Sorry, I distracted myself for a moment there. The point is, we love brekkie. And we are well qualified to comment on one of the things Melbourne does extremely well (more breakfast reviews here). So when we recently fell upon Little Press for breakfast we wondered why it had taken us so long to flush out this wee morning gastronomic treasure.
The thing we loved about brekkie at one of Melbourne’s most iconic dining spots, wasn’t the efficient, understated service, or the light and airy room, or the cleverly designed space. We absolutely adored the thought and imagination of twisting a standard brekkie menu in a way that was highly satisfying to the tummy, but slightly quirky and a bit whimsical.
Here’s the picture. There’s a poached egg, virtuous and all, but it comes on top of a delightfully crisp and beautifully seasoned spanikopita. Yum. Or the toastie. Moist and moreish like your good quality ham and cheese, but it’s not ham and cheese, it’s smoked lamb and fetta. A toastie sure – and yet, not quite. All very breakkie. All very Greek. All very worth another visit.
Monday to Friday: 7.00am – late
